We are thrilled to announce that the webhint browser extension has moved from beta to its v1 release and is now available for Insider builds of Microsoft Edge, as well as for Chrome and Firefox! 

PowerShell 7 now utilizes .NET Core 3.1, but keeps backward compatibility with modules previously available for the classic PowerShell product. Also, PowerShell introduces a new argument, -UseWindowsPowerShell, to force run a cmdlet under the classic engine. 

Windows Package Manager will support every Windows 10 version since the Fall Creators Update (1709)! The Windows Package Manager will be delivered with the Desktop App Installer when we ship version 1.0. If you are building software to run on Windows 10 you will have a simple way for your customers to install your software on billions of machines. 

The .NET team at Microsoft has been working in close collaboration with the gRPC team since November 2018 on a new fully managed implementation of gRPC for .NET Core.

We’re pleased to announce that grpc-dotnet is now available with .NET Core 3.0 today! 

Microsoft has finalized a name for the next major version of Windows 10, and that will be named Windows 10 May 2021 Update (version 21H1). Microsoft said that the build 19043.928 will be the final release build that will start rolling out as May 2021 Update. 

New Features

Comes with Git v2.19.0.
There are now fast, built-in versions of git stash and git rebase, available as experimental options.
The included OpenSSH client now enables modern ciphers.
The gitweb component was removed because it is highly unlikely to be used on Windows.
The git archimport tool (which was probably used by exactly 0 users) is no longer included in Git for Windows. 

In addition to Windows 10, WinJS 4.0 supports the latest versions of all your favorite browsers, including the new Microsoft Edge. We realize that many developers are more familiar with, and may prefer to use, other frameworks for various parts of their app. We have checked in wrappers for AngularJS, KnockoutJS, and ReactJS to our GitHub project. You can now create Windows or web applications using other web frameworks, while still having access to the rich set of controls that WinJS provides.

While React obviously isn’t a company, I’d proffer that React now holds the same crown: it’s a problem for progress and a symptom of a status quo mindset. 

For Linux users, Microsoft offers a new Skype app, which is a web app bundled with its own Electron engine. For those of you not familiar with Electron, it is a framework for creating GUI apps which uses Node.js on the backend and Chromium as the frontend. 

Your software application is like an iceberg. Your users only see a small fraction of the application, the parts that they interact with. Your application can be a mess under the covers but as long as you have a beautiful, quick interface that's super usable, your uses will think your app is designed really well.
