DARPA Wants All C Converted To Rust
After more than two decades of grappling with memory safety issues in C and C++, the software engineering community has reached a consensus. It’s not enough to rely on bug-finding tools. The preferred approach is to use “safe” programming languages that can reject unsafe programs at compile time, thereby preventing the emergence of memory safety issues.

NSA advises organizations to consider making a strategic shift from programming languages that provide little or no inherent memory protection, such as C/C++, to a memory safe language when possible. Some examples of memory safe languages are C#, Go, Java, Ruby™, and Swift®.

Rust – the Ultimate Programming Language?
What makes a good programming language? Syntax? Compiler? Tools and ecosystem? It is tempting to say “all of that” but in that case, why there are so many different programming languages? All these components are very important but they alone can’t make the language “good”. One of essential things is the purpose — like languages for rapid development, or development of distributed algorithms, or general purpose for high-level and low-level applications, or easy to learn, or safe to use and so on.
