.NET MAUI for Beginners

.NET Multi-platform App UI (.NET MAUI) is a framework for building modern, multi-platform, natively compiled iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows apps using C# and XAML in a single codebase. In this video series you will learn how to get started with .NET MAUI, C#, and Visual Studio to build your very first cross-platform desktop and mobile app. 

For the back-end part, we will use ASP.NET Core 2. And for the front-end part — React and Redux. I will use VS Code as a code editor and Ubuntu 18.04 as O.S. 

Previous versions of ASP.NET included the Web API framework for creating web APIs. In ASP.NET 5, this functionality has been merged into the MVC 6 framework. Unifying the two frameworks makes it simpler to build apps that include both UI (HTML) and APIs, because now they share the same code base and pipeline. 

meSing.js is a JavaScript singing synthesis library that uses the Web Audio API's DSP capabilities in conjunction with the meSpeak.js speech synthesis library to provide a vocal synthesizer for the web. First, the lyrics with corresponding MIDI notes are parsed and fed to meSpeak.js; the resulting text-to-speech output is then converted into a series of AudioBufferSourceNodes, which are subsequently processed and adjusted for pitch, rhythm, and expression.  Demo

.NET and .NET Core (and Windows!) have been getting better and better with Docker. I run Docker for Windows as it supports both Linux Containers and Windows Containers. They have both a Stable and Edge channel. The Edge (Beta) channel is regularly updated and, as a rule, gets better and better in the year I've been running it. 

net5.0. This is for code that runs everywhere. It combines and replaces the netcoreapp and netstandard names. This TFM will generally only include technologies that work cross-platform (except for pragmatic concessions, like we already did in .NET Standard).

Microsoft Security Advisory for .NET Core Denial Of Service Vulnerability

CVE-2018-0765

Microsoft is releasing this security advisory to provide information about a vulnerability in .NET Core and .NET native version 2.0. This advisory also provides guidance on what developers can do to update their applications to remove this vulnerability.

Microsoft is aware of a denial of service vulnerability that exists when .NET Framework and .NET Core improperly process XML documents. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could cause a denial of service against a .NET Framework, .NET Core, or .NET native application.

The update addresses the vulnerability by correcting how .NET Framework, .NET Core, and .NET native applications handle XML document processing.

If your application is an ASP.NET Core application, developers are also advised to update to ASP.NET Core 2.0.8.
