Strongly typed AppSettings Configuration در ASP.NET 5
The configuration system in ASP.NET 5 has been completely overhauled and entire web.config/app.config mechanism has been thrown out in favor of a new pluggable system. The default configuration implementation uses a config.json file as storage, but the system is pluggable so other providers can be used instead as well as at the same time. For example, the default project template uses both config.json and environment variables, the latter of which override values in the .json file.

The full source tree with all the code, test code and everything that together constitutes the “Windows source code” is more than a half terabyte in size, in more than 4 million files. You can spend a year (seriously) just drilling down the source tree, more than a half million folders containing the code for every component making up the OS workstation and server products and all their editions, tools, and associated developement kits, and see what’s in there, read the file names and try to figure out what does what. It would take a life (or two) to read it all.

I’ve been kicking around the idea of combining [HttpPost] and [ValidateAntiForgeryToken] in an application using authentication cookies. Both attributes typically appear together to prevent cross-site request forgeries in MVC applications using cookie based authentication. The result looks like the following.

  • Improved performance of discovering available Visual Studio Codespace billing plans.
  • When creating a Visual Studio Codespace, we changed the default suspend time from 30minutes to 3 hours.
  • Fix bug where the Git Changes window informs the user they have incoming/outgoing commits, when in fact they have none.
  • Improved stability of the Diagnostic Tools and Performance Profiler.
  • Addressed an issue where Azure Sphere Visual Studio extension will not be automatically updated due to a minor version mismatch. With the fix, Azure Sphere will be able to get automatically updated when the VSIX auto updater runs.
