Today Microsoft announced the next version of Windows and a new Windows Store, and we’re excited to see how people take advantage of its new features. One thing that hasn’t changed is that Windows is still the best platform to design, build, test, and deploy Android apps.  

Microsoft's .NET Fundamentals Team a few weeks ago announced a new version of .NET Framework 4.6.1. It includes a number of streamline improvements to Windows Presentation Foundation and SQL Connectivity, to name a few. And just recently, the team also re-emphasized end of support for versions of .NET Framework versions older than 4.5.1.

Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 (WSL 2) is one of the most popular features for developers on Windows 10 and 11. It has recently been made available on Windows Server 2022. With this addition, you can now run Linux containers on WSL 2 on Windows Server 2022 for development and testing purposes. 

How to Update npm Packages to their Latest Version 

Chrome 89.0.4389.72, released by the search giant for Windows, Mac, and Linux on Tuesday, comes with a total of 47 security fixes, the most severe of which concerns an "object lifecycle issue in audio." 

The main change in this release is a security fix, and it’s possible you will need to change your own code to adapt. Here’s why: jQuery used a regex in its jQuery.htmlPrefilter method to ensure that all closing tags were XHTML-compliant when passed to methods. For example, this prefilter ensured that a call like jQuery("<div class='hot' />") is actually converted to jQuery("<div class='hot'></div>"). Recently, an issue was reported that demonstrated the regex could introduce a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability. 

For the first patch Tuesday of 2021, Microsoft released security updates addressing a total of 83 flaws spanning as many as 11 products and services, including an actively exploited zero-day vulnerability. 

The first version of ASP.NET was released 17 years ago and during these years, it is fascinating to see how the ASP.NET team constructively reacted through these years to the major shifts happening on the web. Initially a platform that was closed and tried to hide and abstract the web; ASP.NET has metamorphized into an open source and cross platform - one that fully embraces the nature of the web.
