Visual Studio 2019 version 16.1 now generally available (and 16.2 Preview 1 as well)
These are the customer-reported issues addressed in 15.8.3:
- Visual Studio 2017 version 15.8.2 contained a pre-release build of .NET Core SDK 2.1.401 that is incompatible with Visual Studio. We have corrected this issue with Visual Studio 2017 version 15.8.3.
- VSCppUnit test case creation failure.
- Python IntelliSense not working on Python 2.7.
- XAML designer causing Visual Studio to close unexpectedly.
Today we released Visual Studio 2015, VS 2013 Update 5, and TFS 2013 Update 5.
- Add option for Windows (UWP) platform when creating new Xamarin.Forms project from 'Mobile App (Xamarin.Forms)' project template.
- Help > About window title in Visual Studio 2019 still shows 'RC' after upgrade.
- When updating Visual Studio 2019 from RC to GA, RC shortcuts for Visual Studio are left behind.
- Visual Studio 2019 Preview 1.1 cannot create a UWP xamarin form.
- Package load failure starting Visual Studio 2019 after upgrade from Preview 4.4 to 16.0.

.NET 6 has been tested with Visual Studio 16.9 Preview 4 and Visual Studio for Mac 8.9. We recommend you use those builds if you want to try .NET 6.
.NET 8.0.402 - September 24, 2024
Today, we are releasing an update to .NET 8.0.400 SDK due to an issue with RestoreTask randomly fails after upgrading to latest version fixed by Allow @@ as a fallback.
The .NET 8.0.402 release is available for download. This SDK includes the previously released .NET 8.0.8 Runtime and is in support of Visual Studio 17.11 release. The latest 8.0 release is always listed at .NET 8.0 Releases.
The ASP.NET team is proud to announce general availability of ASP.NET Core 2.0. This release features compatibility with .NET Core 2.0, tooling support in Visual Studio 2017 version 15.3, and the new Razor Pages user-interface design paradigm. Rider EAP 20 fixes a number of bugs, improves .NET Core support, has better NuGet performance, supports Xamarin Android applications, comes with Node.js tooling from WebStorm (including SpyJS), can generate ResX files, executes T4 templates (needs Windows and Visual Studio SDK), adds support for scratch files, … Too much for one sentence, as you can see from the full list of fixes. Installing Visual Studio 2019 16.4 will also install .NET Core 3.1 Preview 3, so you don’t need to separately install it. For Blazor development with .NET Core 3.1, Visual Studio 2019 16.4 is required.
