.NET Core 3 will be supported in Visual Studio 2019, Visual Studio for Mac and Visual Studio Code. Visual Studio 2019 Preview 2 was released last week and has support for C# 8. The Visual Studio Code C# Extension (in pre-release channel) was also just updated to support C# 8.

These are the customer-reported issues addressed in 15.9.5:

• VSX1000: No enough information has been provided to MSBuild in order to establish a connection to a Remote Server.
• Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable for ARM64 is not available via visualstudio.com.
• VC Runtime Redistributable Update for VS 15.9 deletes Registry Key. This fix may have an increased chance of requiring a reboot of the machine in order to install an updated VC++ Redistributable package.
• Incorrect codegen in managed c++ with List to List assignment.
• Can't connect to mac build host after Visual Studio 15.9.4 update.
• Resource directories missed in incremental builds with AndroidAarLibrary items.
• Lots of external assembly references - JNI ERROR (app bug): local reference table overflow (max=512).

• SSDT: We enabled SQL projects to build schemas that have non-clustered columnstore indexes on an indexed views.

Security Advisory Notices

• A remote code execution vulnerability exists in Visual Studio when the C++ compiler improperly handles specific combinations of C++ constructs. 

When you create a .NET application in Visual Studio, it contains two build configurations: Debug and Release. But what does this mean exactly? 

• Merge Conflict: "Take Source"/"Keep Target" is missing
• Crashes when trying to debug uwp application
• Unable to select target platform azure v12 for database project
• Fixed crashes or errors that can occur when running Visual Studio after an install action that requires a reboot.
• Fixed an issue deploying Xamarin.Android apps. This peviously required a manual uninstall of the app from the device or emulator.
• This change fixes a bug where the compiler may sometimes incorrectly remove an instruction in a C++ coroutine. 

This bug-fix update resolves the following issues:

ReSharper Build couldn’t build a project if MSBuild was installed as part of Visual Studio 2019 Preview 1 (RSRP-472694).
Visual Studio froze on JavaScript debugging (RSRP-472802).
Inconsistent default state around ‘Inconsistent Naming‘ inspection (RSRP-472812).
A false positive for NUnit TestCase (RSRP-472787).
Unit test coverage highlighting is not shown for projects targeting .NET Framework 3.5 and lower (DCVR-9525).
False “Cannot convert type” error for Promise in TypeScript.
Find Usages did not process bodies of #define macros when looking for textual occurrences (RSCPP-24977).
“Remove unused parameter” quick-fix was broken in C++ (RSCPP-25094).

While normally I hold off on talking about preview releases and other items that are going to change rapidly like .NET 6, I think it is important to know what VS2022 is all about so you know what to expect in the coming months. So in this video, we are going to see VS2022 in action, we will see what the new features are, and we will talk about what this means for VS2019.
