.NET 8 Preview 3 is now available. It includes changes to build paths, workloads, Microsoft.Extensions, and containers. It also includes performance improvements in the JIT, for Arm64, and dynamic PGO. If you missed the March preview, you may want to read the Preview 2 post. 

Welcome to the April 2019 release of Visual Studio Code. During April, we were busy with the Preview release of the Remote Development extensions. These extensions let you work with VS Code over SSH on a remote machine or VM, in Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), or inside a Docker container. 

Today we are glad to announce an alpha release of SignalR for ASP.NET Core 2.0. This is the first official release of a new SignalR that is compatible with ASP.NET Core. It consists of a server component, a .NET client targeting .NET Standard 2.0 and a JavaScript/TypeScript client. 

Today we are releasing the final version of Entity Framework Core 2.0, alongside .NET Core 2.0 and ASP.NET Core 2.0.

Entity Framework (EF) Core is the lightweight, extensible, and cross-platform version of Entity Framework, the popular Object/Relational Mapping (O/RM) framework for .NET.

The fourth preview of .NET 7 includes enhancements to observability in the .NET implementation of OpenTelemetry, the addition of properties to track microseconds and nanoseconds in date and time structures, new metrics for caching extensions, performance-boosting “on stack replacement,” APIs to work with .tar archives, and additional features as part of an ongoing effort to improve the performance of and add features to regular expressions in .NET 7.

New Features

Comes with Git v2.19.0.
There are now fast, built-in versions of git stash and git rebase, available as experimental options.
The included OpenSSH client now enables modern ciphers.
The gitweb component was removed because it is highly unlikely to be used on Windows.
The git archimport tool (which was probably used by exactly 0 users) is no longer included in Git for Windows.
