PGlite is a WASM (Webassembly) based TypeScript/JavaScript client library which helps to run PostgreSQL locally in Browser or in NodeJS / Bun. It does not include any dependencies. It is very light weight and it's size is 3 MB Gzipped. It supports many Postgres extensions like pgvector, live queries, bloom, btree, earthdistance, fuzzymatch and lot morebun.

The two most important topics I want to focus on in this post are:

• Repository Management
• Versioning Strategy

We have different options for each of them: You can go with Monorepos or Polyrepos for hosting your code, and you can pick different versioning methods like Semantic Release, Manual Versioning, Global Versioning, etc. I'll talk about each of them in the next sections. 

What’s in this build? Significant performance improvements were made, shared projects are now supported, code inspection severity can be configured, settings for our unit test runner can be edited, various updates to the NuGet tool window UI, and more. Check out the list of fixes in this build if you feel like digging into details. 

• VS is more responsive when running Git operations.
• Debugging large solutions with /debug:fastlink PDBs is more robust. Changes in the PDB/DIA lead to reduced latency and a 30% reduction in heap memory consumption in the VS debugger that used to cause crashes.
• C++ compiler bugfixes:
  • Fix for the SSA optimizer incorrectly sinking a function call past a store to a variable used in a __finally handler.
  • Fix for the SSA optimizer sometimes incorrectly analyzing memory loads from locations with negative offsets.
  • Fix for the optimizer incorrectly transforming a pre-incremented loop into a post-incremented loop. This was found compiling the ICU project.
• Microsoft bumped up the Java™ Development Kit 8 to Update 172 (JDK version 8u172).

Dear developer friends, I wanted to share with you a book that particularly amazed me. This book teaches you LINQ like you never have before and all in just 35 pages. I present to you Steven Giesel‘s book “LINQ Explained with sketches”. 

In case you are curious, a new benchmark appeared. The benchmark is really simple at present, but I think their plans are to increase the complexity over time to show a more real-world use case than something like the TechEmpower benchmarks which are typically optimized for performance.
