This release includes split queries for related collections, a new “index” attribute, improved exceptions related to query translations, IP address mapping, exposing transaction id for correlation, and much more.
For many years now I’ve advocated not using the repository pattern on top of an ORM such as Entity Framework. Entity Framework Core 2.0 introduces global query filters that can be applied to entities when a model is created. It makes it easier to build multi-tenant applications and support soft deleting of entities. This blog post gives a deeper overview of how to use global query filters in real-life applications and how to apply global query filters to domain entities automatically.

We're going to use Dapper.NET on our project; that much is not in doubt. However, we're not going to start development with it, and it will not be the only ORM in use. The plan is to develop this project using Entity Framework, and later optimize to use Dapper.NET in certain scenarios where the system needs a performance boost.
