is one of those properties I've known about for years, but rarely used. Maybe just a couple of times as part of a solution to a Stack Overflow question. Until last year, when I started creating my huge collection of sliders. Some of the designs I chose to reproduce were a bit more complex and I only had one element available per slider, which happened to be an input
element, meaning that I couldn't even use pseudo-elements on it. Even though that does work in certain browsers, the fact that it works is actually a bug and I didn't want to rely on that. All this meant I ended up using backgrounds, borders, and shadows a lot. I also learned a lot from doing that and this article shares some of those lessons.

The gist of the story goes as follow:
- The most popular languages are JavaScript/TypeScript and Python with roughly 20% of all pull requests each. In effect, if you put JavaScript/TypeScript and Python together, you get about 40% of all pull requests.
- Then you get the second tier languages: Java and Scala, C/C++, and Go. They all are in the 10% to 15% range.
- Finally, you have PHP, Ruby and C# that all manage to get about 5% of all pull requests.
- Other languages are typically far below 5%.
This article dives into the mock questions I would ask, along with responses that are my personal best guess to the answers. Could my answers not reflect actual opinions shared by the team at Microsoft? Sure, but I'm hoping folks from the .NET team can jump in to correct me if I am way off base.
This is a rather interesting time for .NET – what's being done shapes the future of .NET for the next decade. Let's ask the honest questions and hopefully all of us will understand the new .NET ecosystem a little better.
