In the last post, I looked at auto-property enhancements, with several comments pointing out some nicer usages. I recently went through the HtmlTags codebase, C# 6-ifying “all the things”, and auto property and expression bodied function members were used pretty much everywhere. This is a large result of the codebase being quite tightly defined, with small objects and methods doing one thing well. 

C# is rapidly approaching its third decade of life. Originally released in 2000, the language has grown and changed across 7 major versions. Once a knock off of Java in all but name has jumped out ahead on many aspects. 

A few years ago, we took over maintenance and guidance for the ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit project. Please refer to this blog post for more information on the project and why we stepped in to assist.

This post is about the concept of middleware in Core. We have named the post Error Logging Middleware in ASP.NET Core, because we want to use error logging as an example of utilizing middleware

If you stumble into this with no idea who I am or why I’m arrogant enough to think I’m qualified to potentially criticize the ASP.Net Core internals, I’m the primary author of both StructureMap (the IoC container) and an alternative “previous generation” OSS web development framework called FubuMVC that tackled a lot of the same problems that ASP.Net Core addresses now that were not part of older ASP.Net MVC or Web API. 

.NET Core 3 will be supported in Visual Studio 2019, Visual Studio for Mac and Visual Studio Code. Visual Studio 2019 Preview 2 was released last week and has support for C# 8. The Visual Studio Code C# Extension (in pre-release channel) was also just updated to support C# 8. 

At Microsoft Build 2021 .NET MAUI Preview 4 was launched. This version is already pretty complete and starts to reflect what the end result is going to look like. In this video I will show you the new .NET MAUI template in Visual Studio 2019 and walk you through the Weather 21 demo app.  

The .NET 7.0.201 release is available for download. This SDK includes the previously released .NET 7.0.3 Runtime and is in support of Visual Studio 17.5 release.
