In Visual Studio 2013, there were a handful of templates that supported developing ASP.NET projects with various frameworks and data structures. Some of those project templates from the Visual Studio 2012 era have been removed from the Visual Studio 2015 install and added to the Visual Studio Extension gallery as the ASP.NET Project Templates extension for Visual Studio 2015.
With the release of Visual Studio 2015 came the (final) release of the Roslyn C# compiler and C# 6. This latest version of C#’s feature list seems to be…less than exciting, but it’s important to keep in mind that before Roslyn, none of these new features would have ever made it into a release. It was simply too hard to add a feature in C#, so higher impact/value features made it in while minor annoyances/enhancements would be deferred, indefinitely
Using UTC in Applications
Using UTC dates for data is a pretty common and necessary practice but it definitely adds some complexity when managing dates as you always have to remember to properly adjust dates. For display purposes this is pretty straight forward, but for query operations there’s a bit of mental overhead to ensure your date math adds up properly.
No easy solutions, but I hope this post and some of the helpers make life a little easier for you – I know they do for me.
Entity Framework Core 2.0 introduces global query filters that can be applied to entities when a model is created. It makes it easier to build multi-tenant applications and support soft deleting of entities. This blog post gives a deeper overview of how to use global query filters in real-life applications and how to apply global query filters to domain entities automatically.

The referencesource repository contains sources from Microsoft .NET Reference Source that represent a subset of the .NET Framework. This subset contains similar functionality to the class libraries that are being developed in .NET Core. We intend to consult the referencesource repository as we develop .NET Core. It is also for the community to leverage to enable more scenarios for .NET developers.
