The fourth preview of .NET 7 includes enhancements to observability in
the .NET implementation of OpenTelemetry, the addition of properties to
track microseconds and nanoseconds in date and time structures, new
metrics for caching extensions, performance-boosting “on stack
replacement,” APIs to work with .tar
archives, and additional features as part of an ongoing effort to
improve the performance of and add features to regular expressions in
.NET 7.
With .NET 5 released in November, it’s a good time to talk about some of the many improvements in the networking stack. This includes improvements around HTTP, Sockets, networking-related security, and other networking primitives. In this post, I will highlight some of the more impactful and interesting changes in the release.

In the recent interview with Scott Hanselman, Roberta Arcoverde, Head of Engineering at Stack Overflow, revealed the story about the architecture of Stack Overflow. They handle more than 6000 requests per second, 2 billion page views per month, and they manage to render a page in about 12 milliseconds. We imagine they use a microservice solution running in the Cloud with Kubernetes.
