Learn how you can save time by creating your own reusable .NET Core templates in just a few steps.

Do you ever develop prototypes, or starter projects/accelerators, that you’d like to use again in the future? A good way to do that is by creating custom templates for dotnet. Once completed, anytime you want to create a new project of that type in the future, you can key in “dotnet new ” and you’re off, complete with correct namespaces. You can even do conditional checks, or variable replacements. 

 Today Doug Mahugh, Senior Technical Evangelist for Microsoft Open Technologies Inc., announced the release of an Open XML SDK as an open source project through the MS Open Tech hub. Although the SDK has been available since 2007, this release includes full source code available under the Apache 2.0 license on GitHub, as well as the project will continue to grow under the stewardship of the .NET Foundation

When you think about C#, you'll usually think about a high-level language, one that is utilized to build websites, APIs, and desktop applications. However, from its inception, C# had the foundation to be used as a system language, with facilities that allow you direct memory access and fine-grained control over memory and execution.

Entity Signal allows you to connect to Entity Framework through SignalR and get updates on subscribed data in real time. This lowers the number of refreshes done by the user and ultimatly allows you to do more with fewer servers. It is also requires minimal changes, so you can make realtime apps about as easily as you can make standard apps.

Let’s continue our journey to learn the MVVM pattern, applied to Universal Windows apps development. After we’ve learned the basic concepts in the previous post, now it’s time to start writing some code. In C# Code Contracts Succinctly, author Dirk Strauss demonstrates how to use Code Contracts to validate logical correctness in code, how they can be integrated with abstract classes and interfaces, and even how they can be used to make writing documentation less painful.
