In simple terms, before we write a line of code, we start each sprint planning session by outlining a blog post describing what our next release will be.

Today, we are releasing the .NET Core September 2018 Update. This update includes .NET Core 2.1.5 and .NET Core SDK 2.1.403 and contains important reliability fixes. 

The new SameSite behavior has been the default in Firefox Nightly since Nightly 75 (February 2020). At Mozilla, we’ve been able to explore the implications of this change. Starting with Firefox 79 (June 2020), we rolled it out to 50% of the Firefox Beta user base. We want to monitor the scope of any potential breakage. 

Today, the Entity Framework Core team announces the second preview release of EF Core 6.0. This release includes changes to handling the synchronization context when SaveChangesAsync is called, smoother integration with System.Linq.Async, updates to string concatenation and improvements to free text search. 

Today, we’re excited to introduce GitHub Package Registry, a package management service that makes it easy to publish public or private packages next to your source code.

GitHub Package Registry is fully integrated with GitHub, so you can use the same search, browsing, and management tools to find and publish packages as you do for your repositories. You can also use the same user and team permissions to manage code and packages together. GitHub Package Registry provides fast, reliable downloads backed by GitHub’s global CDN. And it supports familiar package management tools: JavaScript (npm), Java (Maven), Ruby (RubyGems), .NET (NuGet), and Docker images, with more to come.

With .NET 5 released in November, it’s a good time to talk about some of the many improvements in the networking stack. This includes improvements around HTTP, Sockets, networking-related security, and other networking primitives. In this post, I will highlight some of the more impactful and interesting changes in the release.
