PostSharp 5.1 will focus on providing support for .NET Standard 2.0 and .NET Core 2.0. Our objective is to port the PostSharp compiler itself to .NET Standard 2.0 so that we can compile .NET Standard and .NET Core applications natively, without cross-compilation. PostSharp 5.1 will still only support Windows as the only build platform. 

Two years in the making, we finally have our first beta release of Bootstrap 4. In that time, we’ve broken all the things at least twenty-seven times over with nearly 5,000 commits, 650+ files changed, 67,000 lines added, and 82,000 lines deleted. We also shipped six major alpha releases, a trio of official Themes, and even a job board for good measure.  

We decided to use Qt for our next Geospatial Intelligence Desktop App, but the .NET Core performance was close to Qt and both easily outperformed the JavaFX prototype. So, we are going to use .NET Core for our Geospatial Intelligence Services backend. 

There’s a ton of small bug fixes in this release, quite a few enhancements and a few larger new features. Configuration performance went up quite a bit, and I’ve laid the groundwork to make in-memory mapping a lot faster in the future. LINQ projection has gotten to the point where you can do anything that the major query providers support.

.NET apps can now run natively on Windows ARM64. This follows the support we added for Linux ARM64 in .NET Core 3.0. With .NET 5.0, you can develop web and UI apps on Windows ARM64 devices, and deliver your applications to users who own Surface Pro X and similar devices. You can already run .NET Core and .NET Framework apps on Windows ARM64, but via x86 emulation. It’s workable, but native ARM64 execution has much better performance.

Today we released .NET 7 Preview 5. This preview of .NET 7 includes improvements to Generic Math which make the lives of API authors easier, a new Text Classification API for ML.NET that adds state-of-the-art deep learning techniques for natural language processing, various improvements to source code generators and a new Roslyn analyzer and fixer for RegexGenerator and multiple performance improvements in the areas of CodeGen, Observability, JSON serialization / deserialization and working with streams.
